The use of three-dimensional echocardiography for the analysis of cardiac structures allows the viewing of planes that make the anatomic identification more realistic1-3. We present the case of a 41-year-old male patient, a high-performance athlete (marathoner) in whom an Eustachian valvula was identified. In the two-dimensional echocardiographic study (Figure 1), an elongated, filiform structure is observed. Threedimensional echocardiography shows an elongated, but not filiform valvula which appears as a structure with a wide base, as identified in the short-axis view, which enables anatomic observation from a depth or elevation plane (Figure 2). Three-dimensional transthoracic echocardiographic evaluation of cor triatriatum.
We present an adult patient with cor triatriatum (CTT) due to a left atrial (LA) membrane. Two-dimensional and real-time three-dimensional transthoracic echocardiography (3DE) were performed as well as echocardiographic examination after exercise. These non-invasive modalities provided a comprehensive anatomic and hemodynamic evaluation of the anomaly.
متن کاملDynamic three-dimensional echocardiography with a computed tomography imaging probe: initial clinical experience with transthoracic application in infants and children with congenital heart defects.
OBJECTIVE To assess the clinical applicability of a prototype computed tomographic echocardiographic imaging probe in paediatric patients with congenital heart disease. DESIGN A phased array echocardiographic transducer (64 elements, 5 MHz) mounted on a sliding carriage was used transthoracically in various positions on the chest. The transducer moves from the outflow tract to the apex of the...
متن کاملThree-dimensional transesophageal echocardiography of the atrial septal defects
Transesophageal echocardiography has advantages over transthoracic technique in defining morphology of atrial structures. Even though real time three-dimensional echocardiographic imaging is a reality, the off-line reconstruction technique usually allows to obtain higher spatial resolution images. The purpose of this study was to explore the accuracy of off-line three-dimensional transesophagea...

Echocardiography, three-dimensional; echocardiography, transesophageal; heart valve prosthesis; endocarditis. Echogardiographic aspects have been added to the criteria used to investigate the diagnosis of infective endocarditis1. However, under some circumstances, the two-dimensional echocardiographic technique, whether transthoracic or transesophageal, fails to provide sufficient diagnostic in...
متن کاملNon-Invasive Imaging for Congenital Heart Disease: Recent Innovations in Transthoracic Echocardiography.
Transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) is an important tool for diagnosis and follow-up of patients with congenital heart disease (CHD). Appropriate use of TTE can reduce the need for more invasive and complex modalities, such as cardiac catheterization and cardiac magnetic resonance imaging. New echocardiographic techniques have emerged for the assessment of ventricular systolic and diastolic fu...
